This topic is starting to pick up a lil bit of steam. Been hearing and seeing a lot of talk on the streets about what is and what isn’t hip hop
How old school hip hop compares to whats out now. Who is name dropping who etc.

It will be interesting to see if it picks up more steam. Cuz it may be a case of old school vs new school going at it, some good/bad old school new school colabo’s . some good old school coaching for these new schoolers to make them better MC’s and not just rappers.

So it may turn out better that the east coast west coast beef.

This is one beef I am actually looking fwd to.

On a grand scheme of things the outlook on music is very diff for kids these days. Just take for example how we used to (still do) break down lyrics and productions.
These days kids really don’t do that. For one reason there is no history in built in today's production its all in most cases new where we had sample heavy production that had history in which forced us to delve into.
Old school lyrics had quantum physics equations and utilized subject matter from a real standpoint. These days though the standpoint may be real the subject matter is materialized from a place that is paralleled to vanilla sky.

  1. This is definently true I would even go farther to say there is no inner competition within the culture for it to feed off of let alone the outside pressure to produce quality like u mentioned from other art forms, hiphop has always been compared to a sport and if there is no pressure to pursue greatness it becomes tired and stale
